EP 16: How WELL Certified Buildings Promote Health and Well-Being

Updated: Jul 5

About 7 years ago, two brothers saw the potential in combining real-estate and healthcare, so they founded the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) which created WELL.

What is WELL? WELL Building Certification is an evidence-based system that building owners can look to as a roadmap to ensure that their tenants are in a "healthy" and safe space. In order to achieve WELL Building Certification, a building's metrics are closely measured and monitored, strongly focusing on performance features that impact the health and well-being of people who live, work, and learn in buildings.

In episode 16 of the "10 Minutes to a Better Building" podcast, Boland's Energy Performance Engineer, Meaghan Trentacost, discusses WELL Building- what it is, what the certification covers, why you should get certified, and more!

Episode takeaways:

1. Learn the seven concepts of WELL Building Version 1 and the three different types of certifications

2. Understand what types of buildings can be candidates for WELL Building certifications

3. Develop an understanding of how being WELL Building Certified can save you money and bring comfort to your tenants
