Boland’s project with Hughes Network System on Chiller Plant Optimization was recognized as the Most Innovative Project of 2018 by the Pepco Energy Savings for Business Program.
This award considered ‘custom’ applications in the program completed in 2018. The engineering/program management team nominated projects they had worked on last year. These were evaluated based on the following criteria:
1) Overall energy savings achieved
2) Uniqueness of project: Those projects that do not have a prescriptive path (such as controls systems) are rated higher than those that do (such as chillers)
3) Comprehensiveness of scope: Did the project cover a specific system, or was it more wide-ranging
The Pepco Energy Savings for Business Program is part of Empower Maryland, and “will pay for up to 70% of the total project cost for you to install new energy-efficient equipment in your business,” according to the program website.
The program runs on a three-year cycle, and businesses can currently take advantage of the program through 2020.
